What This Day Means
Our wedding is a celebration of love and a testament to progress.
We are overjoyed to be marrying each other — and profoundly grateful that we’re able to do so legally as an LGBTQ+ couple. This day isn’t just about two people in love; it’s also about the rights that make our celebration possible.
How We Got Here
Marriage equality didn’t happen by accident. It exists because generations of people fought for the simple idea that love is love. Our wedding is possible because of their courage, and we honor that every time we say “I do.”
Living With Uncertainty
Even in the days, weeks, and months leading up to this wedding, Rebecca has spent hours on her phone, anxiously checking the news, fearing that something might change in the Supreme Court and take this right to marry away. That anxiety is very real… and it’s a reminder of how fragile progress can be.
We know our guests come from many different political perspectives, and that’s okay. We’re not asking you to share our politics. We’re asking you to understand that the right for two people of the same gender to marry is not guaranteed forever. It must be protected if future couples are to have the same joy we’re experiencing today. And, we must do the same for EVERYONE’S rights!
Do Your Part
If you’re celebrating with us, you’re already part of this story. By being here, you’re recognizing that our marriage matters. We hope you’ll also consider taking steps — voting, speaking up, volunteering, supporting organizations — to keep marriage equality legal and thriving for future generations.
